Found Clay Pots
COLLECTED OBJECTS SHAPED BY THE ELEMENTS AND TIME.
This capsule brings together one-off clay vessels in different forms, scales and finishes.
Rounded storage pots. Narrow-necked vessels. Deep-bellied forms.
Pieces that speak to the everyday rituals they may once have belonged to: carrying water, storing grain, holding oils, preserving food, sitting close to the kitchen or gathering place.
Their histories differ, many are unknown.
What remains is visible in the object itself: softened edges, uneven surfaces, tonal variation, old markings that bare signs of their former life.
Some are quiet and compact. Others carry real weight and presence.
Collected individually. Stronger together.

How It Lives In The Home
A single vessel can hold its own on a table, console or plinth.
Grouped together, differences in height, volume, colour and surface create a collection with depth and rhythm.
Use them empty, as objects, alongside books, timber, stone and other pieces gathered over time.
Available In Store
Because each piece is one-off, the full Modern Primitive collection is not available to purchase online. Visit an Empire Home to discover the current drop, or contact us and we can help locate available pieces.

About Modern Primitive
About Modern Primitive
Empire’s collection of found-and-restored pieces sourced through our travels across the Indonesian archipelago, from villages and workshops to libraries, train stations and everyday places.
Many began life as working pieces shaped by daily rituals, traditional practices and generations of use, before being restored through our network of traditional artisans.
